Tropical Storm Isaias

Tropical Storm Isaias and Crestview: what to do now

NWS Mobile has issued a Hurricane Watch for the Okaloosa Inland zone, which includes Crestview, for Tropical Storm Isaias. Inland homes don't face surge, but NHC forecasts 3 to 6 inches of rain, locally up to 10, from far southeastern Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle Friday through the weekend.

After Isaias, check for roof damage and leaks, and photograph fallen trees before removal. If water rises from the Shoal River or nearby creeks, that part of the loss goes to a flood policy, so keep it separate in your notes.

Only in Crestview

Okaloosa County conditions that shape your claim.

Inland Hurricane Watch

Crestview is in the Okaloosa Inland zone, which NWS placed under a Hurricane Watch for Isaias. Strong wind can reach well inland.

Shoal River flooding

NHC reports the Shoal River reached major flood stage during Sally in 2020, and the I-10 bridge over the Shoal River in Okaloosa County was closed.

Military-area housing

Many Crestview homes serve families connected to Eglin AFB and Duke Field. Owners who relocate often need claims handled remotely.

Trees and rural lots

Wooded lots around town mean fallen-tree damage is a common inland claim.

Claim types

What we document most for Crestview properties.

Tree-fall damage

Pines and oaks on large lots can damage roofs, framing and vehicles. Photograph the tree in place.

Roof wind damage

Inland gusts lift shingles and loosen flashing. Check the yard for roofing debris after the storm.

Rain and river flooding

Heavy rain causes leaks. Rising water from rivers and creeks needs flood coverage.

Remote-owner claims

Owners who are deployed or relocated can still file. A local contact's dated photos help.

Recent Florida recoveries

Real Florida claims. Real checks.

Recoveries clients authorized us to share. Every insurance claim is different, and prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Amounts are before public-adjuster fees where disclosed.

Crestview FAQ

Questions Crestview owners ask us.

Text an adjuster
Can Tropical Storm Isaias cause claims in Crestview even though it's inland?

Yes. Crestview is under a Hurricane Watch, and inland wind and heavy rain can damage roofs and bring down trees. If Isaias damages your home, American Financial Claims can review the claim for free.

Can American Financial Claims handle a Crestview claim if I'm deployed?

Yes. We can work with a spouse, family member or property manager who has authority, and handle much of the claim by phone and email. Bring the policy and any photos.

Is flooding from the Shoal River covered by homeowners insurance?

Usually not. River flooding falls under NFIP or private flood policies. Wind or tree damage from the same storm can still be a homeowners claim.

What does a free review include?

We look at your policy, the damage and any insurer estimate or letters, then explain in plain language what the policy appears to cover. A review does not guarantee additional payment.
