Tropical Storm Isaias

Tropical Storm Isaias and Apalachicola: what to do now

As of NHC Advisory 4, the Coastal Franklin zone, including Apalachicola, is under a Tropical Storm Watch and a Storm Surge Watch for Isaias. NHC says peak surge could reach 3 to 5 ft above ground from Indian Pass to the Aucilla River if it arrives at high tide.

If Isaias damages your Apalachicola property, document wind damage and water damage separately. Waterfront businesses should keep sales records from any closure in case their policy includes business-income coverage.

Apalachicola FAQ

Questions Apalachicola owners ask us.

Text an adjuster
What should Apalachicola owners do about a Tropical Storm Isaias claim?

Document wind and water damage separately with dated photos, make reasonable temporary repairs, keep receipts and give prompt notice. American Financial Claims can review your Isaias claim for free.

Will insurance pay to match original materials on my Apalachicola historic home?

Policies generally pay for like kind and quality. When originals are hard to match, the estimate should reflect comparable quality. Ordinance-or-law coverage may help with code upgrades.

Does my seafood business policy cover lost income after a storm?

Only if it includes business-income coverage, and usually only after direct physical damage and a waiting period. Bring your policy and sales records to a free review.

Is river or bay flooding covered by homeowners insurance?

Usually not. It falls under a flood policy. Wind damage from the same storm can still be a homeowners claim.
